Some relevant transits…
Despite what some may think, I don’t live my life entirely by astrology. However, there are certain periods of life when astrology can help explain what’s happening and offer some advice about how to deal with the difficult circumstances we find ourselves experiencing. The following two transits are not yet exact in my chart, but I’m already feeling their effects, as may some other forty-somethings reading this. Any comments or questions are welcome and I’ll try to explain and answer them the best I can.
From the book Astrology for the Millions by Grant Lewi, pages 339-340 and 325-326: Saturn Transit Opposite Your Saturn: “Occurring between the ages of forty and forty-four, this aspect marks, generally, a turning point in the career, following which the aim should be security rather than further aggressive progress. According to the choices made when you were from thirteen to fifteen years of age, (the last time this aspect occurred), this second transit of Saturn opposite its own place will find you in a satisfactory of unsatisfactory mental and material position. Regardless of this, however, you must recede hereafter from aggressive action in the world; must fix your aims at personal, rather than material, progress; and must set your goal at security. Business changes frequently made at this time and work out well if risks are avoided and ironclad contracts substituted for hit-and-miss methods. Falling in the well-known “prime of life,” it sometimes urges further expansion of the ego (see the following transit description which coincides with it in time). But for the best results you should be willing to start a more moderate and secure course than you have hitherto followed. And to be sure that you do this, examine any change you consider now primarily in light of the effect that it will have on your security and your personal contentment in years to come.”
Uranus Transit Opposite Your Uranus: “This coincides with the previous transit. Since the two fall at once, their action will be indistinguishable one from the other. However, while Saturn’s opposition of its place does things to your material progress and demands retreat on the material plane, this aspect is bringing your originality to full fruition and promising satisfaction from the development of inner and personal talents which may or may not have a material aspect. To make the necessary adjustments suggested in the previous section, heed the important note of individualism mounting within you; interpret it, not in business, but in private achievement (study, writing, creative work of some sort) and seek to plan your life from here on so as to leave time and energy for the many things you have “always wanted to do, but never quite got around to.” This is bound to be a period of important change, and your must approach it in full command of yourself, ready and able to follow the dictates of your intelligence, rather than your emotions, which will be unreliable.”
